Those who know me well, know that I am easily moved by simple, every day occurrences. I am moved each time I see the words “Love you Mom” in a text message from either of my grown sons. I am moved each time my 96-year-old mother and I find something to giggle about together. Throughout my 31 years of teaching elementary-aged children, I was moved every time one of my students gave me a hug on Friday afternoons and said they would miss me over the weekend. Or when a parent took the time to write a note thanking me for my commitment to their child’s education and well-being. I am moved each time I hear the pop of a champagne cork, knowing there is something wonderful to celebrate. And I am moved with each sunset I witness at my beloved cottage. I am grateful every day for the simple things in life that fill me with joy.
