I love volunteering at the library. And it’s a great help to the autism kids I work with on a daily basis. It helps them learn practical life skills like communication, patience, waiting in line, being quiet and different social skills.
I’m also part of a cookbook club at the Painswick Library. We pick a different theme each month and try out different recipes and share them with each other.
Another great thing about the library is the people that you meet when you’re volunteering or involved in different activities. I’ve met a lot of new Canadians through the ESL chatroom I co-ordinate at the Painswick Library. It’s so wonderful seeing people who are trying to start a new life Canada. Helping these families, along with the work I do with autistic kids, is very rewarding.
