Once we decide to let go of the internal and external pressures attached to life’s “big questions” it is then we are able to take the time to look around and recognize that it’s the little things that bring us the most happiness. For myself, it’s things such as cooking a nutritious meal for my family, writing a song inspired by true love, or snuggling up with my lover and my cats.
Joy is certainly an important emotion, as is the opposite. This is why I encourage everyone to explore all their emotions and understand what they mean. I think it’s important to be open and honest with ourselves and with the people around us to truly allow ourselves to grow. At the end of the day, we have the choice to do what we want with these emotions, and it’s our responsibility to choose happiness, or not.
Joy happens when we let go and accept that we have little control over so many things. Joy happens when we choose to live in the moment and make the best of that moment. Experiencing joy is unique and individual, and there is potential for joy in each second.
It’s up to you to seize it in the present.
